ASTM C1161
Standard Test Method for Flexural Strength of Advanced Ceramics at Ambient Temperature:
Flexural strength is determined in three-point or four-point bending on bars of rectangular cross-section. Testing of ten specimens per type/brand is recommended by ASTM.

ASTM C1211
Standard Test Method for Flexural Strength of Advanced Ceramics at Elevated Temperatures
Flexural strength is determined in three-point or four-point bending on bars of rectangular cross-section. Testing of ten specimens per type/brand is recommended by ASTM.

ASTM C1259
Standard Test Method for Dynamic Young's Modulus, Shear Modulus, and Poisson's Ratio for Advanced Ceramics by Impulse Excitation of Vibration
A non-destructive sonic method is used to determine the modulus of elasticity and modulus of rigidity for calculation of Poisson's Ratio. Bars of rectangular cross-section are used for the measurements.

ASTM C1341
Standard Test Method for Flexural Properties of Continuous Fiber-Reinforced Advanced Ceramic Composites
Flexural strength is determined in three-point or four-point bending on bars of rectangular cross-section. Testing of ten specimens per type/brand is recommended by ASTM.

ASTM C1421
Standard Test Methods for Determination of Fracture Toughness of Advanced Ceramics at Ambient Temperature
Fracture toughness is determined in three-point or four-point bending on chevron-notched bars of rectangular cross-section. Testing of four specimens per type/brand is recommended by ASTM.

ASTM C1424
Standard Test Method for Monotonic Compressive Strength of Advanced Ceramics at Ambient Temperature
The compressive strength is determined on a right cylinder. Testing of at least five specimens per type/brand is recommended by ASTM.

ASTM C1499
Standard Test Method for Monotonic Equibiaxial Flexural Strength of Advanced Ceramics at Ambient Temperature
Equibiaxial strength is determined by concentric ring configurations under monotonic uniaxial loading.

ASTM E112
Standard Test Methods for Determining Average Grain Size
Average grain size is determined by the linear intercept method on a polished section by optical microscopy.

ASTM E494
Standard Practice for Measuring Ultrasonic Velocity in Materials
A non-destructive sonic method is used to determine the longitudinal and transverse velocities for the calculation of the modulus of elasticity, modulus of rigidity, and Poisson's Ratio. Specimens with parallel sides are used for the measurement.
